EZ300 CELL CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

CONNECTION AND DISCONNECTION OF THE CELL TO THE POWER PACK

In some situations, to make things easier and to gain access to the cell, it may be necessary to disconnect the WATERMAID Cell from the Power Pack.

The WATERMAID Cell is connected via low voltage grey power cable to the terminal box of the power pack.

The cell wires must be connected polarity correct for the cell to work.

CLEANING THE EZ300 WATERMAID CELL

1) Unplug the brass connector at the top of the Cell head.

2) Unscrew the top barrel nut from the top of the Cell. Gently twist the Cell head and pull the centre electrode out from the casing. Wipe the centre electrode clean with a rag to remove all deposits. If the centre electrode does not pull out, proceed to step 3.

3) If both Cell electrodes are heavily encrusted with calcium deposits and the calcium deposit is soft and mushy, try hosing out the Cell with a strong jet of water. This will usually clean the cell sufficiently so that acid cleaning may be avoided. If the calcium deposit is hard, replace the centre electrode and instead unscrew the bottom barrel nut and remove the entire assembled cell from the pipe work.

4) With the cell completely removed from the pipe work, place the cell upside down into a bucket and follow the directions below for cleaning the cell with a DILUTE solution of acid.

5) IN A PLASTIC OR GLASS CONTAINER dilute one part Hydrochloric (muriatic) acid with ten parts of warm tap water (not boiling).

ALWAYS ADD THE ACID TO THE WATER!

DO NOT POUR UNDILUTED ACID INTO THE CELL!

N.B: Do NOT immerse the cell electrodes in a strong acid solution, as it may shorten the cell life and damage the electrodes.

6) Pour the dilute acid mixture into the cell.

7) When the effervescing stops inspect the cell and if the electrodes are still calcified, repeat the process.

8)Rinse cell with water and insert into the pipe work when finished.

To keep the cell deposits soft, add 25 Kg of Magnesium Chloride to the pool water every 12 Months.
