HOW IT WORKS
The Watermaid Water Treatment Unit
manufactures chlorine biocide, needed for effective water treatment of cooling
tower water circuits. Watermaid's proven chlorination process is by the electrolysis of the naturally
occurring salts (chloride ions), already contained in the makeup water
of a cooling tower system.
Chlorine has been PROVEN to
be an effective biocide. It is
commonly added to cooling towers, primarily in the form of liquid chlorine
(12.5%
available chlorine) or granular chlorine
(65% available Chlorine)
to kill all micro-organisms,
including Legionella species and maintain control within the cooling tower.
The Watermaid Water Treatment
Unit manufactures
its
own chlorine (100%
available Chlorine) "on-site"
to maintain the
water of a cooling tower in a clean, clear and sterile condition, 24 hours per
day, to provide maximum protection for the tower and the general public
at large.
The cost of manufacturing
"on-site" chlorine by the Watermaid Water Treatment Unit is
about 1/6 the cost of purchasing the cheapest chlorine chemicals or
other biocides.
The Watermaid Water Treatment Unit differs from other forms
of water treatment devices in that:
-
The Watermaid Water Treatment Unit manufactures a powerful
chlorine biocide, 24 hours per day, every day of the year, giving around
the clock protection for the cooling tower. Not once a day, week or
month as a dosing maintenance system or serviceman may perform.
-
The Watermaid Water Treatment Unit -
DOES NOT ADD
any
aggressive, corrosive, chloride ions to the water of a cooling tower system, therefore corrosion
is limited to the agents inherently found in makeup water.
(Other forms of biocide treatment for cooling towers
commonly involve treating the water by
adding liquid chlorine, granular chlorine, halogen compounds and
powders, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen peroxide and non-oxidising biocides,
ALL of which contribute chloride ions to the water, responsible for
corrosion problems in cooling towers.)
